Adding to a Template

Note: Before you can add the menus to your templates, you must have the plugin installed and have generated your menu structure.

Begin by going to the Multi-Level Navigation plugin in your sohoadmin. At the bottom of the page on the right, there is a link for the Menu Wizard. Clicking that link will pop-up a window where you can choose several option to build the code snippet you need.

First choose the page that will be the parent page for the menu. Choosing "Automatic" in the list will generate the menu such that the "top" level is the page the user is currently on. Otherwise, it will generate a menu based on the sub-pages for the page you choose. For example, if you have a page called "Products" and under that page in the menu, you have four product names. If you choose Products, the items in the menu will be those four products (whether to show sub-pages of those is below).

Second, enter the depth to which you want the menu system to go in that menu. If you want it to only show the four products in the "Products" menu and not it's subpages, enter 1. Entering 0 will allow it to go as deep as the menu goes.

Third, choose whether you want the parent page (in our example "Products") to be included at the top of the menu displayed.

Last, choose which type of menu you want it to display. The descriptions of each type are just below the option list.

Then click the Generate Code Snippet button.

You will be provided a small text string that you can copy and paste into your template where you want the menu to go.
